Shimla, June 30 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh Saturday continued to experience warm weather due to the delayed monsoon, with the state’s Paonta Sahib town recording a high of 42 degrees Celsius, a Met official said here.
“Temperatures increased due to the ongoing dry spell. Shimla recorded a high of 29.1 degrees Celsius, seven degrees above the average for this time of the year,” an official of the meteorological office told IANS.
Dharamsala, the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile, recorded 35.2 degrees Celsius, six notches above average.
Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum of 38.4 degrees Celsius, while it was 29 degrees in Manali and 26.4 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district.
The Met department said the arrival of the southwest monsoon in the state is delayed by over a week.
The monsoon normally hits the state by June 27.
