Chennai, July 15 (Inditop.com) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Wednesday said the state government is interested in introducing a common syllabus in schools.
“A special committee is looking into the matter,” he said in the state assembly Wednesday in response to a calling attention motion to the police attack on students Tuesday outside the state secretariat.
He said police had to use force to some extent as they were attacked by the protestors demanding introduction of common syllabus in schools.
Warning of legal action against those protesting without permission outside the secretariat, he said out of the 70 protestors belonging to Students Federation of India (SFI) 23 are not students.
Stating that cases under five sections were booked against the agitators, he added that a formal intimation will be sent to the parents of the agitating students and the institutions where they are studying.
Raising the police attack on the students opposition, legislators termed the baton charge as barbaric and asked the government to take action against the police personnel.
