New Delhi, July 15 (Inditop.com) Undeterred by charges filed by the Uttar Pradesh police against him for the alleged hate speeches he made in Pilibhit during the Lok Sabha poll campaign, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi Wednesday said he “shall be vindicated”.

“I welcome the case being taken forward as now I shall have the opportunity to establish my innocence,” said Gandhi in a statement here.

Gandhi has been asked to appear before Pilibhit’s chief judicial magistrate Aug 17. Three criminal cases are registered against him for making anti-Muslim remarks during the election campaign in Pilibhit in March.

The BJP leader is currently out on bail.

“As a law abiding citizen, I had even earlier voluntarily surrendered to the court. I reiterate my full faith in the judiciary and remain confident that I shall be vindicated,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi further said: “I trust the media to respect the sanctity of the judicial process and not allow itself to be misused for political purposes.”
