Guwahati, July 4 (IANS) Guwahati police have arrested two top leaders of a militant outfit of the Dimasa community from the city, police said Wednesday.

The duo, arrested Tuesday night, have been identified as Manjit Phanglo alias MainGZ Dimasa and Nilesh Thousen alias Thairing Dimasa, both of a lesser known militant outfit called the Dimasa National Revolutionary Front (DNRF).
While Phonglo is the deputy commander-in-chief of the outfit, Thousen is its vice chairman.
Police said that following specific intelligence inputs the militants had been nabbed from a rented house in Guwahati’s Ananda Nagar area.
One .32 calibre pistol, two live bullets and some incriminating documents were recovered from their possession.
Terming the arrests as prized catches, police said that interrogation of the duo is expected to reveal more information about the outfit including its arms and cadre strengths, and training camp details.
