Aurangabad (Maharashtra), July 6 (IANS) Seven people, including the son of a retired police officer and two women, have been arrested in connection with the gangrape of a minor orphan girl here, police said Friday.

The accused are Kishore Jadhav, son of a former deputy superintendent of police, Nandu Shirsat, Anand Indrajeet, Praveen Rathod and Kiran Chabukswar.
Two women, Varsha Bharti and Jayshree Sharma, the mother of accused Kishore Jadhav, were also taken into custody for aiding and abetting the crime, according to Pankaj Choudhary of Cantonment Police Station.
All the accused have been produced before a local court for remand.
Police said that the victim, who alongwith another girl had escaped on Wednesday night from the orphanage Vidyadeep Balgriha Chhavni, had gone to relieve herself around midnight in the Garkheda area when the accused Kishore Jadhav caught and dragged her to a car where his accomplices were waiting.
Thereafter, they took the victim to Jayshree Sharma’s house and ganraped her.
On Thursday, the victim returned to the orphanage and recounted the incident to the superintendent who lodged a police complaint.
A team of investigators led by Assistant Police Commissioner B. Sandeep traced the culprits and nabbed them Friday, the police official said.
The youths, aged between 18-21 years, have been charged with kidnapping and rape. while the two women have been charged with aiding and abetting the crime.
