Islamabad, Aug 1 (IANS) A total of 167 peacocks have died in Pakistan over the past three weeks, including five of them dying of viral disease, in the latest incident in Sindh province’s Tharparkar desert.

The five peacocks died of dreadful viral disease called Ranikhet, taking the toll Wednesday to 167 in a brief period of 24 days, Geo News reported.
Up to 129 peacocks died in Tharparkar alone due to this disease, the report added.
According to the local residents, the viral disease has spread from hens, among other avians, and cannot be controlled unless it was eradicated from where it originates.
