Moscow, Aug 15 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A court in Russia’s Siberia region sentenced a man to life in prison for a series of crimes, including two arsons that killed seven people and the rape of a 12-year-old girl.

Two people died when Vadim Garbokon set fire to a wooden house in an attempt to kill a female acquaintance in the western Siberian city of Tomsk in May 2007.
In October 2009, Garbokon and a teenage friend set fire to a flat that they believed belonged to a man who was at odds with the teenager. They blocked the door with a log before setting the apartment ablaze. Five people, including three children, were killed.
The criminals, who were under the influence of alcohol, later discovered that they had set fire to the wrong flat, officials said.
Garbokon also raped a 12-year-old girl and committed a robbery together with another teenage friend.
His two underage accomplices have been sentenced to over nine years and over three years in jail respectively.
