Chandigarh, Aug 24 (IANS) Proceedings in the Haryana assembly were disrupted Friday as the house witnessed heated exchanges between opposition and treasury benches over the Gopal Goyal Kanda-Geetika Sharma controversy.

The opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and other leaders wanted an adjournment motion on the issue, which was not allowed by Speaker Kuldeep Sharma.
This led to pandemonium in the house and the day’s sitting was adjourned twice for a few minutes.
One legislator even started reading out Geetika’s suicide note, which was objected to be the speaker.
The INLD legislators then trooped towards the speaker’s podium, insisting that the adjournment motion be allowed.
Kanda, who is a sitting legislator, was arrested by Delhi Police last week after former flight attendant Geetika Sharma accused him of driving her to suicide in her two notes of suicide left behind.
Geetika, who had worked in Kanda’s now defunct MDLR Airlines, committed suicide earlier this month in New Delhi and accused Kanda and another official, Aruna Chaddha, for her suicide.
Kanda was forced to resign as Haryana’s minister of state for home affairs and urban local bodies after the controversy broke out.
