New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assets worth around Rs.10.73 crore (around $2 million), nearly double from last year. Many of his cabinet colleagues, like Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel, are far richer than him, shows an updated list of assets of ministers posted on the PMO website.
Patel has declared assets of around Rs.52 crore and Pawar has declared property worth around Rs.22 crore.
Defence Minister A.K. Antony, known for his austere lifestyle, has assets worth only Rs.55 lakh.
In the declaration posted in the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) website, Manmohan Singh has shown residential properties, bank deposits and a Maruti 800 car as his assets.
The total value of Manmohan Singh’s two flats – in Chandigarh and Delhi – is shown to be Rs.7.27 crore. His bank deposits and investments are worth around Rs.3.46 crore.
According to the declaration last year, Manmohan Singh had total assets worth Rs.5.11 crore approximately. The doubling of total assets is being attributed to the increase in valuation of his two flats by a government-approved valuator.
Finance Minister P. Chidambaram’s total assets total up to around Rs.11.96 crore approximately.
External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna has assets worth Rs.1.89 crore, including immovable properties of Rs.31.44 lakh.
