New Delhi, July 20 (Inditop.com) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “admires” India and “loves Indian food”. After her gastronomic excesses during her trip here, she intends to go on a diet when she returns home, she told students of Delhi University Monday, amid laughter and applause.

Nearly 1,000 students and teachers had gathered in the Delhi University convention hall near the vice chancellor’s office in the campus to hear Clinton.

Dressed in a formal white suit with a string of pearls around her neck, Clinton, who has visited India a number of times since she came here as First Lady in 1995, said: “I have long been an admirer of India”.

“I love Indian food. In fact I eat way too much food when I am here. I have to go on a diet of carrots and celery when I go back home!” Clinton said amid peals of laughter and loud applause from the audience.

ITC Maurya Sheraton’s famous Bukhara restaurant here added a special ‘Hillary Platter’ to its menu during her current trip.

The restaurant already has a ‘Presidential Platter’, named after Hillary Clinton’s husband and former US president Bill Clinton, and a ‘Chelsea Platter’, named after their daughter.

The three had visited India and stayed at the hotel in 2000, when Bill Clinton was president. They had dined at the Bukhara, which is famous for its Indian dishes.

On Sunday Hillary Clinton went for a private dinner to the restaurant accompanied by seven US officials. She chose a range of delicacies from kebabs to paneer tikkas, and now the ensemble will become the ‘Hillary Platter’, said an ITC official.
