New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) The National Culture Fund and HUDCO Thursday inked an agreement to create a website on heritage and disaster management, upgrade museums, improve amenities at heritage sites and restore old buildings, an official release said.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation outlined its main areas of interest in training programmes and capacity building, heritage and disaster management, environmental and museum improvement and restoration of heritage buildings.
The MoU was signed in the office of Culture Minister Kumari Selja at Nirman Bhavan here.
The ministry in a statement said that a Rs.35 lakh training module in conservation for professionals would provide 20 people with heritage conservation skills, while a Rs.5 lakh a year website would offer training in heritage and disaster management.
The National Culture Fund, HUDCO and the Archaeological Survey of India will upgrade museums at the Buddhist sites of Nagarjunakonda and Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh at Rs.5 crore over a period of three years.
A waste management programme, Clean Basti, will ensure cleanliness of the sprawl adjoining the archaeological complex in Nizamuddin at Rs.35 lakh for about two years, the ministry said. The project will be supported by the Aga Khan Foundation.
Three heritage schools in the Union Territory of Puducherry will be restored at a cost of Rs.9.5 crore over three years with the support of Indian National Trust For Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH).
