Ranchi, July 22 (Inditop.com) A seven-year-old girl died in a school near Ranchi after falling into a bucket full of hot daal (pulses) prepared for the midday meal, an official said Wednesday.
Afsari Parveen, a class one student was standing in a queue waiting for the midday meal to be served. The hungry kids were jostling for food when someone pushed from behind and the girl fell in the bucket, an official of the education department said.
No teacher was present on the spot when the incident occurred Monday. The girl was later rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead. The incident took place at Kolhaiya Kanadu village under Pithoria police station which is about 45 km from Ranchi.
Angry villagers have demanded closure of the school. Confirming the incident, Pradeep Chaube, District Superintendent of Education, Ranchi told IANS: “We have terminated the services of three temporary teachers and transferred two permanent teachers from the school.”
The school administration claims that the girl did not belong to their school. She used to come to take the midday meal served free in the school. Her parents, however, claim that she was enrolled in the school and the management had even provided books to her.
“The midday meal proved fatal for my daughter. The teachers should be hanged for their negligence” said the mother of Afsari.
The education department has announced an immediate compensation of Rs.10,000 for the family members of the girl.
