Moscow, July 22 (Xinhua) A Russian Mi-8 helicopter crashed Wednesday in Russia’s southern region of Volgograd, killing six people on board, officials said.

There were eight people on board the helicopter when it took off from Volgograd at 8.02 a.m. Officials lost contact with the chopper two hours later. The fate of two other people was not immediately known.

“Preliminary reports said six out of eight people on board have died,” a source said.
