Bangalore, Oct 31 (IANS) Former Australia cricketer Adam Gilchrist Wednesday said he would prefer the traditional format of Test cricket over the day-night version that has been recently approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“In my personal perspective, I love the traditional way of cricket and haven’t heard too many players saying different in this regard,” Gilchrist told reporters here on the sidelines of a promotional event.
Gilchrist, who featured in the first day-night Test in Australia few years ago, said conditions change as the game progresses beyond early afternoon.
“I don’t think the conditions remain the same as the game progresses beyond early afternoon. It is bit unknown whether to pick red ball under lights. It seems like a different proposition,” he said.
Gilchrist said Tests will remain the pinnacle of cricket.
On the battle for the No.1 spot in the ODI championship table by April 1 cut-off date, Gilchrist said: “There is no absolute standout. Although I do think South Africa has proved around the globe by producing better results consistently.”
