Chennai, Oct 31 (IANS) The Madras High Court has stayed till Monday the central government’s order on cable TV digitisation. Alongwith Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi, the Tamil Nadu capital was also to go digital from Nov 1.

Cable operators filed a case in the Madras High Court for extension of the Oct 31 digitization deadline citing non-availability of set-top boxes.
M.R. Srinivasan, General Secretary of Chennai Metro Cable TV Operators Association, said the case will come up for hearing on Monday, and till such time, “the court has stayed the government order”.
“This comes as a relief to us,” Srinivasan said.
Under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Amendment Bill 2011, complete digitisation of cable TV in the country has been made mandatory by the end of 2014.
