Lucknow, July 23 (Inditop.com) Uttar Pradesh Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi Thursday said her party had no intention of bringing down the two-year-old Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government led by Mayawati.
“As far as we are concerned, we are not interested in pulling down the Mayawati government, but we cannot do anything if it falls on its own,” Joshi told media persons at the party headquarters here.
Joshi, who had been arrested and put behind bars for making remarks against the chief minister, asserted that she would fight against Mayawati’s “injustice”.
“I have already moved the Allahabad High Court for quashing the trumped up charges against me as also for instituting a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) inquiry into the arson attack on my house by Mayawati’s goons. My petition is coming up for hearing tomorrow (Friday),” she said.
Expressing confidence that the Congress would form the next government in Uttar Pradesh, Joshi said: “We have chalked out a detailed plan of our party’s activities for the next three years because we have our focus on the next Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) elections in 2012.”
While a two-day meet of all the party’s Lok Sabha members from the state is proposed to begin July 25, and will be presided over by party general secretary Digvijay Singh, a meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Congress coordination committee was being planned Aug 4 and will be chaired by general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
