Mumbai, July 24 (Inditop.com) Director Rumi Jaffrey denies that Akshay Kumar opted out of “Life Partner” due to a “rift” between them and says it was the star who suggested the film’s title.
Akshay was supposed play a divorce lawyer who doesn’t believe in the institution of marriage, but was unable to feature in the film due to date problems. Eventually the role went to Govinda.
“All these rumours of a rift between Rumi and Akshay are false. Aki couldn’t do the film because of date problems and Rumi is absolutely okay with it. Both parted ways amicably,” said a source close to the film.
Added Jaffrey: “It is really funny? Abbas bhai, Mustan bhai and I were struggling for a title. It was almost the case of having it under our nose and not able to see it. When we were in conversation with Akshay for the film, he suggested ‘Life Partner’ as a title and it just stuck. I couldn’t believe it. It was as simple. And we all just loved it and couldn’t have thought of a better title.”
“Life Partner” is about two couples and their journey through their relationships and also stars Geneila D’Souza, Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor and Prachi Desai.

Gun plays lead role in ‘Aage Se Right’!
The main protagonist in “Aage Se Right” is a mean, killing gun that is on the run, and when the makers tried to promote the film by weaving in a contest, they had to face the censors.
The film is about a cop who has lost his gun and what follows is a series of adventures and the weird mishaps as he sets out to find the gun. When the marketing and promotion team decided to have a contest where participants can win a real real gun, the censor board denied permission to the contest promos going on air and giving away a real gun as prize.
“Both the authorities felt that we were promoting the gun, which is a destructive weapon and the communication can be misused. What if the gun falls into wrong hands? we all live in sensitive times and something like this could be misused. So we are now not planning to run the contest promos but do online promotion of the contest,” said a source close to the project.
“Aage Se Right” stars Kay Kay Menon, Shreyas Talpade, Mahi Gill and Shernaz Treasurywala and is directed by Indrajit Nattoji. It is slated for Sep 4 release.
