Islamabad, Dec 25 (IANS) A religious leader in Pakistan had a miraculous escape Tuesday when unidentified gunmen opened fire at his vehicle in the southern port city of Karachi, killing four people, a media report said.
The attack took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area when Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi, leader of Ahle-e-Sunnat Jamaat, was travelling in his car, Geo News reported.
Farooqi’s three guards and the driver were killed on the spot.
He sustained bullet injuries but was said to be in a stable condition.
The Ahle-e-Sunnat Jamaat is a religious organisation for Sunni Muslims.
There were conflicting media reports, which said four policemen, a security guard and a driver were killed.
