London, Dec 27 (IANS) A whopping majority of cash-strapped Britons — 83 percent — will shun expensive nights-out and celebrate New Year’s Eve at home, a study has found.
Of those staying at home as 2013 is ushered in, 43 percent plan to snuggle up on the sofa to watch a film, The Sun cited the survey by Morrisons as saying.
Morrisons is a chain of supermarkets headquartered in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
While some Britons are planning a quiet meal and a bottle of wine, 12 percent will be hosting friends and family.
One in 10 Britons said New Year’s Eve was “too expensive”, with the average cost per person for going out hitting 78 pounds.
And 44 percent said they were more worried about their budget for the big night than last year.
