Islamabad, Dec 27 (IANS) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in a highly emotional speech Thursday, asked all political parties to join hands to ensure peace, progress and prosperity in the country and fight against extremist elements.

Addressing a rally in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the occasion of the fifth death anniversary of his mother and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal said: “We want to take along all the parties and have adopted the process of reconciliation to ensure progress and prosperity in the country.”
“We are followers of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and all those who sacrifice their lives for the democracy and rights of the people,” the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Bilawal as saying.
“Our path is the path of democracy, which is difficult, and this was taught to us by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who could not led down the flag of people of Pakistan,” he said.
The PPP chairman said his party would not abandon Pakistan nor would it allow a dictator to steal the rights of people or be deterred by terrorists, Geo News said.
Bilawal said the PPP has taken the difficult path of democracy and were taught to walk on this path by Benazir Bhutto. “We have brought democracy and we will be ones to protect it.”
On Pakistan’s economy, Bilawal said the economic policies of the PPP were “brilliant”, but unfortunately this was a time of global recession.
He said that despite facing challenges such as terrorism, the economy of Pakistan was still standing on its own feet.
