New Delhi, Dec 29 (IANS) The Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) said it was deeply saddened at the death of the 23-year-old woman who was raped and brutally assaulted Dec 16 here. The victim, a trainee physiotherapist, was flown to Singapore late Wednesday night for better treatment, where she died early Saturday.

“We are deeply saddened and distressed by the news of the braveheart physiotherapy intern succumbing to the brutal Delhi gang-rape,” a statement from IAP president Umasankar Mohanty said.
Extending condolences to her family, the IAP vowed to “continue…agitation…until the attackers are punished”.
“This unfortunate incidence has indeed exposed the complete incompetence by our law-enforcement authorities,” he added.
The 23-year-old woman, whose name was never disclosed as is the norm for rape victims, suffered multiple-organ failure.
She was raped by six people, including a suspected juvenile in a moving bus in Delhi Dec 16 night and dumped by a roadside after being assaulted with an iron rod.
