Shimla, Dec 29 (IANS) Mourning the death of the Delhi gang-rape victim in a Singapore hospital, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Saturday said stringent laws should be enforced to prevent crime against women.

“Their honour should be protected at every cost,” he said while favouring stringent laws.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shanta Kumar in a statement from his hometown in Himachal Pradesh’s Palampur demanded capital punishment for rape.
Referring to stringent laws in some countries where the guilty of rape are castrated, the Rajya Sabha member said: “All these matters need to be discussed in parliament. New courts should be established so that guilty could be punished at the earliest.”
The 23-year-old woman was gang-raped and brutally assaulted Dec 16 in a moving bus in the national capital by six people. She was flown to Singapore late Wednesday night.
The physiotherapy intern succumbed to her injuries early Saturday in a Singapore hospital.
