New Delhi, July 25 (Inditop.com) A well-known public school in south Delhi has shut down a section of its Class 9 for a week after a student tested positive for swine flu, school authorities said Saturday.
Classmates of the student who tested positive for the influenza A(H1N1) virus “have been asked not to come to school and they are quarantined at home. Even teachers of that class and on the same floor have been asked to undergo tests and are quarantined,” Arun Kapoor, principal of the Vasant Valley School, told IANS.
According to Kapoor, the school in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area has been sanitised and all classrooms and corridors were disinfected.
“We have advised students to use disposable tissues instead of handkerchiefs and separate dustbins are being installed for disposing them. We are stocking hand sanitisers in all toilets and students will be encouraged to use this every two hours,” said Kapoor.
“We have our school nurses who will watch students for any symptoms,” he added.
The school has distributed leaflets about do’s and don’ts related to swine flu.
As of now 23 students from various schools in Delhi have tested positive for the flu, which has gripped the world. The World Health Organisation has declared it a “pandemic”.
