Sydney, Jan 1 (IANS) In a first, Cricket Australia (CA) and soft-drink giants Coca Cola have transformed a stand, Bay 10, at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) into a temporary beach for the upcoming third and final Test match between Australia and Sri Lanka starting Thursday.
The pop-up beach, titled “Coca-Cola Beach @ the cricket”, will be launched Wednesday by Australia cricketers Shane Watson, Mike Hussey and David Warner.
A splash pool with lifeguards will also be available for the fans to watch the Pink Test match.
The match has been named the ‘Pink’ Test in support of former Australia cricketer Glenn McGrath’s McGrath Foundation.
The McGrath Foundation is a breast cancer support and education charity which raises money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and provides education to increase breast awareness in young women.
The charity was originally founded by McGrath and his English wife Jane in 2002, following her initial diagnosis and recovery from breast cancer.
Jane died on June 22, 2008 at the age of 42.
