New Delhi, Jan 1 (IANS) The 20-year-old woman call centre employee, who was stabbed to death here the day before, was attacked by her ex-lover as he wanted to settle scores with her, police said Tuesday.

Neha Yadav was stabbed by Devender, 20, around 5 p.m. Monday at Dallupura furniture market in east Delhi. The accused, a driver, was arrested soon after the attack. A city court Tuesday sent him to two-day police custody.
Police said the attacker stabbed his neighbour in Dallupura as she refused to marry him and befriended another man, Gaurav, 24.
“A year ago, Devender befriended Neha, since then he wanted to marry her. He also used to spend a big amount of his income on her,” said a police officer, quoting Devender’s statement.
He told police that his family members were not ready for their marriage and later Neha developed friendship with Gaurav.
“Devender did not like Neha’s friendship with Gaurav and decided to kill her,” said the officer.
The woman was going to Noida in a car with Gaurav when they were stopped by Devender. The accused asked the woman to come out of the car and stabbed her. She died on way to hospital.
Gaurav was also injured in the attack. He was discharged from the hospital Tuesday.
