London, Jan 9 (IANS) A granny in Britain managed to nail a violent burglar by tearing a button off his trousers.

The 77-year-old chased Keith Williams, 41, down the stairs and made a grab for him despite being punched in the face. But a fastening came off his jeans as he fled the house in Fallowfield, a suburban locality in Manchester city.
Williams stole 78 pounds (about $125) and a treasured locket. But the trousers, minus the button, were later found at his home in Whalley Range area of the city, Daily Express reported.
The woman, who suffered bruising and anxiety, said she was very angry since “the money was to pay the gas bill”.
Williams, who has been described as a paranoid schizophrenic, was jailed for 32 months at Manchester Crown Court after admitting burglary. The last three of his 97 offences included violence against elderly women.
