New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said Thursday that Delhi Police will conduct night patrol on motorcycles as a step to increase security while telephone numbers of women help desk in a police station will be notified to all schools and colleges in the area.
Talking to media persons here, Shinde said that cell number and telephone number of women help desk will be conveyed to all schools and colleges in the area of the police station’s jurisdiction.
“Specific officer will be deputed and the number given to principals of schools and colleges to be put up on the notice board,” Shinde said.
He said night patrolling will be carried out by Delhi Police personnel.
Shidne Wednesday reviewed law and order situation in the capital with Delhi Police as part of steps to boost security following widespread concern over the safety of women over brutal gang-rape of a young women here Dec 16.
He said two motorcycle patrols will move from opposite directions and meet in the middle to report any incident.
“They will also go into the by-lanes,” he said.
Shinde said that committees will be constituted at each police station involving civil defence personnel, home guards, ex-servicemen and women NGOs so that issues relating to public, particularly women, are brought before the police officers in a more interactive manner.
