Lucknow, Jan 10 (IANS) China-based Ming He Group Thursday expressed its interest in setting up a lead acid battery unit in Uttar Pradesh.
A company delegation led by general manager Zhang Yang met state’s Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Anil K. Gupta here and discussed incentives available to new industrial units.
The company intends to invest around Rs.500 crore to manufacture lead acid storage batteries such as electric vehicle storage battery, heavy equipment storage battery and fixed storage batteries, Gupta said.
“In case the investment is above Rs.500 crore, on a case-to-case basis, the government can consider incentives other than those already provided in the new industrial policy on the recommendation of an empowered committee and approved by the cabinet,” he said.
“For that to happen, the investor has to give a commitment and a concrete proposal to the government,” he said.
The delegation has visited some sites, including Sandila and Unnao.
The company plans to hire 800 people in the first phase of the project.
