Wellington, July 29 (Xinhua) New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully said Wednesday that Fiji would be fully suspended from the Commonwealth.

McCully, who was on his way to London for a meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group, said the retirement of Fiji President Ratu Josefa Iloilo is unlikely to influence the outcome, Radio New Zealand International reported Wednesday.

The Pacific island country of Fiji has already been suspended from the Councils of the Commonwealth, and the New Zealand foreign minister said there has been no positive movement since Fiji Prime Minister Voreqe Commodore Bainimarama’s government abrogated Fiji’ s constitution in April.

McCully said the meeting in London will hear a report on the situation from the Pacific Islands Forum.
