Shimla, May 1 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri Wednesday said that a nine percent increase has been registered in the average income of families living in the state’s rural areas after the Mid-Himalaya Project implementation.
Besides, 25 percent below poverty line (BPL) families have registered an improvement in their lifestyle, the minister said while interacting with a delegation of World Bank mission here.
The delegation was here to take stock of developmental activities under the Mid-Himalaya Project.
Bharmouri said irrigation facility to an additional 8,000 hectares has been recorded besides an increase in the production of milk, fruits and vegetables due to implementation of the project.
