New Delhi, July 29 (Inditop.com) A day after a 16-year-old boy was kidnapped from near his school in west Delhi for a ransom of Rs.2 million, police Wednesday found his body in another part of the capital.
Ribhu Chawla, student of K.R. Manglam School in Vikaspuri, was returning home after school when he was pushed into a car by some unidentified men. The kidnappers then sped away. Chawla lived with his parents in the same area.
Police said some witnesses called up the police control room at 3.17 p.m. to inform about the kidnap.
Later in the evening, the kidnappers called up Chawla’s family and demanded Rs.2 million for his safe release. However, it was not immediately clear whether the family paid the ransom.
Chawla’s body was found Wednesday morning near Ryan Public School in Vasant Kunj area of southwest Delhi. He was identified from his school uniform.
The police said the victim’s body has been sent for autopsy.
“It seems that the kidnappers killed the boy for fear of being arrested. Investigations and search are underway to arrest them,” said a police officer.
