Chennai, June 2 (IANS) The Indian cricket board’s working committee is to meet here Sunday, to decide the fate of its president N. Srinivasan in the wake of the IPL spot fixing scandal.
The emergency meeting will be held at 2.30 p.m. at Park Sheraton. “All issues will be discussed,” BCCI joint secretary Anurag Thakur has said.
The meeting was called after the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke quit Friday on moral grounds.
The pressure mounted on Srinivasan, whose son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan has been arrested for betting in IPL, after IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla too resigned Saturday.
According to BCCI sources, indications are that Srinivasan will be forced to give up his post but the latter is still trying to stay on.
Meiyappan was arrested May 24 following the earlier arrests of three Rajasthan Royals cricketers as well as Bollywood star Vindoo Dara Singh on charges of spot fixing and betting.
