Agra, Aug 1 (Inditop.com) Wondering how you’ll pass the rest of the day in Agra after you’ve soaked in the beauty of the Taj Mahal? Starting Saturday, you can walk across to see a musical presentation that captures the eternal love story behind the monument of love.
The 80 minute musical presentation that was discontinued in March re-opened Saturday.
Ashok Jain, the producer of the show “Taj the Mohabbat” told IANS after a preview for the press Friday evening that the “immortal love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal has been presented by more than 50 professional artistes from Mumbai and other parts.”
“Even as the actors perform the drama, a large audio visual screen in the background shows elements related to the saga. In the final scenes, when Mumtaz Mahal dies, and Shah Jahan gets busy with the construction of the Taj, a large marble replica of the Taj Mahal pushed up by a hydraulic lift emerges on the stage,” Jain said.
The show will be staged at the Kalakriti Auditorium, which is barely 600 metres from the Taj Mahal. The auditorium which was constructed at a cost of Rs.1.7 crore, took more than two years, 150 craftsmen and civil engineers to build and can seat 585 viewers. It displays intricate inlay on Italian and Makrana marble, red sandstone, and specially designed chandeliers.
The live performance is synthesised with laser and audio-visual effects.
“A few months back when we began experimenting we noticed a few gaps and guided by viewers’ feedback we have suitably modified the show and we are sure it will be a hit with the tourists,” said Yashwant Singh, in charge of the auditorium.
Jain said: “With nothing much to see or do in the evenings, tourists often chose to leave Agra the same day after seeing the Taj. But from Aug 1, they will have a reason to stay back and watch the most fascinating love story of all time.”
The show will be held daily at 6.30 p.m. and the tickets are priced at Rs.750, Rs.500 and Rs.250.
