Karachi, Aug 1 (Inditop.com) The toll in a building collapse in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi rose to 11 Saturday, a media report said.
The deaths occurred after a five-storey building collapsed Friday night in the Mithadar area of the city, Geo TV said citing the police. The victims include three members of a family.
Eyewitnesses said more than 30 people were in the building when it collapsed. They said several people remained trapped under the rubble.
The rescue work was hampered due to the narrow lanes leading to the building, the report said.
Residents of a nearby building were evacuated after the structure was declared unsafe.
Officials said it will take several hours more to remove the debris.
