Paris, June 29 (IANS/EFE) Jean Paul Gaultier and Issey Miyake paid homage to the tourist with their 2014 spring/summer menswear shows on the second day of Paris Fashion Week, rolling out designs for the sharply dressed traveller.

Yusuke Takahashi, 27, unveiled his first collection as head menswear designer for the Japanese fashion house, telling EFE afterward that Miyake wanted a new generation to inject “creative energy” into the designs.
He said his goal in the collection was to offer a “youthful style” but one that drew on “traditional materials and techniques”, adding that he likes to “mix the two”.
His designs included long-sleeved shirts and jackets with short trousers and bermudas, as well as leather shoes featuring blocks of primary colours.
Gaultier, meanwhile, opted in his spring/summer 2014 collection for attention-grabbing items such as extremely short pants over cycling skin suits and bermudas over “leggings”.
Meanwhile, British soccer icon David Beckham, who retired from the sport just over a month ago, had a spot in the front row at Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2014 during Thursday’s show at Paris Fashion Week.
