Attari (Punjab), July 12 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) has buried the body of a woman intruder from Pakistan, killed by its troopers while she was trying to intrude into Indian territory, after the Pakistan Rangers refused to accept the body, a BSF official said Friday.
Deputy Inspector General R.P.S. Jaswal said the woman intruder was buried in the presence of a Moulvi (Muslim preacher).
He said the woman was noticed moving towards the border fencing along the international border at 6.15 a.m. Tuesday near the border outpost (BOP) Shahpur in the Amritsar sector. She was challenged by BSF troopers but she did not stop. She was killed in firing by the BSF inside Indian territory.
The unidentified woman was aged around 30-35 years, he said.
The BSF official said a border contact meeting was held with the Pakistani Rangers who were told to identify the body and take it back.
“After agreeing to take back the body after completing all formalities, the Pakistani Rangers refused to accept it Wednesday. They said that the identity of the woman could not be established by them,” said a BSF spokesman.
Attari is about 30 km from Amritsar.
