New Delhi, July 24 (IANS) India is keen to sign long-term contracts to import potash fertiliser from Belarus, Minister of State for Commerce E.M. Sudarsana Natchiappan said Wednesday.

“India is looking for long-term contracts for supply of potash to meet its growing requirements,” Natchiappan said at the 6th session of the India-Belarus inter-governmental meeting here.
He said Indian companies were keen to set up joint ventures in Belarus for production of potash-based fertilisers.
Belarus Industry Minister Dmitry S. Katerinich co-chaired the inter-governmental meeting along with Natchiappan.
“Belarusian side recommended India to determine an Indian counterpart deputed to negotiate on the long-term cooperation agreement, take decisions and signing of the agreement for the full volume of the deliveries,” the commerce ministry said in a statement.
