Ghaziabad, July 24 (IANS) An interstate gang of arms suppliers was busted here Wednesday with the arrest of its two members, police said.

Police arrested the two men from Ghaziabad’s Raj Nagar Extension area Wednesday afternoon and recovered 11 automatic firearms along with 40 live cartridges.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car in which five members of the gang were travelling. While two were arrested, three managed to escape from the spot, a police officer said.
The arrested members were identified as Gayur Ali and Mehtab Ali from Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli town. During interrogation, they also gave the name of a third accomplice, Mehtab Ali, also from Shamli.
“We have sent a team to nab the third culprit,” Superintendent of Police (City) Shiv Shankar Yadav said.
The police have recovered three pistols of 9 mm calibre, three guns of 12 bore, three rifles of 315 bore and four country-made pistols of 315 bore. Forty-live cartridges of 315 and 12 bore were also recovered.
