Beirut, Aug 29 (IANS) Lebanon’s caretaker foreign minister has said his country won’t allow the use of its air space to carry out strikes against neighbouring Syria.
Adnan Mansour Wednesday said “no military action should be carried against Syria before the UN investigation team completes its report on the use of chemical weapons”, Xinhua reported citing Voice of Lebanon radio.
He warned against any military operation outside the UN Security Council framework, warning it “would have grave repercussions throughout the international community”.
On Aug 21, an alleged chemical attack in a Damascus countryside left more than 1,300 killed, according to rebels.
The US and some Western powers have threatened to launch military strikes on major security and military centres in the conflict-stricken country.
