Bangalore, Sep 3 (IANS) Global software major Wipro Ltd will ramp up its headcount in the Nordic region in northern Europe to have 500 techies over the next three years, the IT bellwether said Tuesday.

“As Nordics is set to emerge as an important growth markets for us, we are committed to investing in the region to serve our customers across industry verticals,” Wipro’s chief sales and operations executive Rajat Mathur said in a statement here.
The five northern European countries — Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden — form the Nordic region.
The company has identified Asia Pacific, Nordics, Germany, France, South Africa, Latin America countries as growth markets.
To consolidate and expand its operations in the Nordics, the company has hired Carl-Henrik Hallstrom as its regional head.
An industry veteran, Hallstrom was until recently associated with the global consulting firm KPMG, which acquired for an unspecified amount EquaTerra in 2011 where he was managing director.
Hallstrom has about 20 years experience in IT and back-office operations such as business process outsourcing (BPO) services.
“As part of his domain expertise, Hallstrom developed sourcing strategies and expertise in managing change programmes for global firms in the Nordic region,” Mathur said.
Prior to KPMG, Hallstrom held executive positions in the Swedish IT firms such as Fujitsu Services, Daltek and Tandberg.
Committed to serve its customers in the region, the company will focus on key verticals such as telecom, manufacturing, energy and utilities, which have strong presence in the Nordics.
