New Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS) Airtel Bangladesh Limited Tuesday announced Huawei Technologies Bangladesh Limited as its network partner for the upcoming launch of 3G Services in Bangladesh.

Airtel has been awarded the 3G license with 5 MHz of spectrum in 2100 MHz band in the 3G license auction held on Sep 8, 2013.
“3G services will mark the beginning of the next phase of Bangladesh’s telecom growth story and elevate the telecom sector at par with most advanced telecom markets in the world. In addition, 3G services will have a strong multiplier effect on economic growth and bring in enhanced efficiencies,” Chris Tobit, chief executive officer and managing director, Airtel Bangladesh Limited, said.
Airtel Bangladesh is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharti Airtel.
Recently the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission sold 25 megahertz (MHz) of 3G airwaves for $525 million to four telecom operators – Grameenphone, Robi Axiata, Airtel Bangladesh and Banglalink Digital Communications.
