New Delhi, Aug 9 (Inditop.com) The privately run Sanskriti School here will be closed for a week after three of its students tested positive for swine flu, a teacher said Sunday. One of the students contracted the virus in Britain.

Two students, from Class 4 and Class 11, were identified as patients Saturday and had attended school till Thursday. The school is located in south Delhi’s diplomatic enclave Chanakyapuri.

Teacher Anjali Bali told Inditop: “After two of our students tested positive for swine flu, the school authorities consulted the doctors and decided to close it for a week. We have informed the parents.”

The school first sent SMSes to parents Saturday informing them about the two cases and asking them to await further instructions regarding its closure. On Sunday, parents were told that the school will be shut until Aug 17 as a precaution.

“We don’t want the infection to spread in the school. It’s best to nip the problem in the bud,” Bali said.

The school Sunday said on its website that a third student tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

“One student from Class 8 contracted the virus in UK but has not joined school since returning from UK,” the website said.

Earlier, a Class 6 girl of the school was suspected to be down with swine flu. The school then said it would remain closed till Monday. However, she tested negative for the virus Friday.

According to the website, Sanskriti school mainly caters to the children of bureaucrats and defence personnel.

India has reported four deaths due to swine flu. Delhi has 179 confirmed cases of the viral infection.
