Cairo, Sep 23 (IANS) A Cairo court Monday banned all activities of the Muslim Brotherhood and ordered its assets and funds to be seized in Egypt, Xinhua reported citing state-run Al Ahram online.

The court also banned the activities of the group’s non-governmental organisation, which was officially registered in March, and all institutions affiliated to it, according to the presiding judge.
The court ordered the formation of a panel from the cabinet to oversee the funds until an irrevocable court ruling on the group is issued.
Egyptian authorities have launched a crackdown against the Muslim Brotherhood since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi by the army July 3 in response to nationwide protests.
Egyptian prosecutors Sep 17 ordered freezing of assets of several senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood as part of investigations into their involvement in inciting violence against protesters.
