Beijing, Sep 25 (IANS) Liu Yunshan, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has called on party members to see their shortcomings and offer better care to the people.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks Wednesday at a special meeting to recall the exemplary life of Lan Hui, a late county deputy head, Xinhua reported.
Lan, former deputy head of Beichuan Qiang autonomous county in China’s Sichuan province, fell off a cliff and died while inspecting a rural road May 23 this year. He was 48.
Lan was known for his painstaking efforts at the forefront of relief and reconstruction work following the devastating May 12 earthquake in 2008.
“Comrade Lan Hui always took care of people’s matters with all his heart. People said he was like a fire in the winter, warming wherever he went,” Liu said.
According to Liu, Lan is a mirror who could reflect other CPC members’ deficiencies and let them know in what way to improve themselves. Party members should understand better the essence of serving the people from Lan’s life.
The publicity and organisational departments of the CPC Central Committee and other groups jointly released a circular Wednesday urging all party members to learn from Lan Hui.
While urging the members and officials to bring themselves closer to the people and pay more attention to their hardships, the circular called on various organisations to guide party members to learn from Lan’s life and serve the people wholeheartedly.
