New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS) Kidambi Srikanth and P.C. Thulasi won the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, on the final day of the 35th PSPB Inter Unit Badminton Tournament at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here Friday.

In the men’s singles championship match, Srikanth (IOCL) was in prime form against Saurabh Verma (ONGC). Srikanth raised his game to beat in-form Verma 21-19, 21-16. There were some close net exchanges mixed with some hard hitting rallies but Srikanth’s ability to reach and return most smashes worked.
Meanwhile, in women’s singles, Thulasi (ONGC) announced her growing stature when she beat India No.1 Arundhati Panthawane (ONGC) in a closely contested match. The first game could have gone either way but Thulasi held her nerve to win it 23-21 and bagged the second game quite comfortably 21-15.
The men’s doubles action, Arun Vishnu and Srikanth (IOCL) were too strong for Pranaav Chopra and Tarun Kona (ONGC) winning the title 21-12, 21-18.
Overall, BPCL won both the women’s and the veteran’s team championships while ONGC won the men’s team championship.

Women’s singles: 3-P.C. Thulasi def. 1-Arundhati Panthawane 23-21, 21-15
