Amritsar, Jan 29 (Inditop) The Border Security Force (BSF) Thursday seized nearly 14 kg of heroin and some weapons near the India-Pakistan border in the Amritsar sector, officials here said.

Alert BSF troopers foiled an alleged attempt by some Pakistani and Indian smugglers to deliver the drugs consignment taking advantage of thick fog early this morning in this border belt, the officials said.

The BSF troopers also recovered some weapons from the spot.

The smugglers from both sides managed to escape, taking advantage of dense fog and poor light.

The drugs consignment is said to be worth Rs.140 million (Rs.14 crore) in the international market.

Customs officials had Tuesday arrested two Indian nationals from the Attari railway station, 30 km from here, with 14 kg of heroin.

They had arrived on board the Samjhauta Express peace train from Lahore in Pakistan and were caught during checking at Attari.
