Agra, Oct 12 (IANS) The Queen’s baton for the 2014 Commonwealth Games (CWG), to be held in Glasgow in England, left the Taj city Saturday afternoon after being received at the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort.
Senior district and police officials welcomed the baton at the Shilpgram complex. ADM city Vasudev Khare received the baton which was passed on to SSP Shalabh Mathur, athlete Sudha Singh, members of the district Olympic association including Rahul Paliwal, Hari Singh Yadav and Pankaj Tiwari.
The group left the city via the Yamuna Expressway after a brief interaction with local sportspersons and media at the River View hotel.
The baton will travel across 71 countries. It arrived in India’s capital New Delhi Friday night.
