New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) A fine spell by off-spinner Vivek Bhatu (three for 20) was the cornerstone around which Ravindra Public School built a fantastic 22-run victory over defending champions Vidya Jain Public School in the opening Group A encounter in the USA Pears-Dardevils School Cup T20 cricket tournament at the Bharat Nagar ground here Wednesday.
After a brisk start when Ravindra Public School made 35 runs in the first five overs, Vidya Jain Public School came back strongly to restrict scoring down to 117 for seven in 20 overs. However, the hinges came off its chase for victory when Vivek Bhatu struck frequently and helped his team score a superb win.
In other matches, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan scored a second successive win in Group E, a facile 41-run verdict over Frank Anthony Public School, while Shourya Chaudhry was unfortunate to miss the milestone of a century for Vishwa Bharati Public School (Noida). His knock of 96 (57 balls, 10 fours, three sixes) helped his school beat Karl Huber School for its first victory in two starts in Group F at the Greater Noida Authority Stadium.
