Chandigarh, Aug 11 (Inditop.com) The Chandigarh administration has decided to rope in the services of private hospitals to tackle swine flu and introduce the facility of testing influenza A (H1N1) virus in a leading government hospital.
“To treat both suspected and infected patients of swine flu we will involve Inscol Hospital and Mukat Hospital. It will help us provide better facilities and medical aid,” Health Secretary Ram Niwas said Tuesday.
“All the possibilities will be explored and the isolation wards will be established in these private hospitals in consultation with the concerned authorities,” he told reporters.
Presently, isolation wards are available at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and two government hospitals.
Very soon, PGIMER is expected to start its own laboratory to test the suspected swine flu cases.
Nearly 50 cases of suspected swine flu have been reported in Chandigarh, and seven have tested positive.
