Greater Noida, Oct 26 (IANS) Force India are confident of scoring points in the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix after Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil set the 12th and 13th fastest times in qualifying at the team’s home race here Saturday.
Both di Resta and Sutil missed the Q3 with times of 1.25.711 and 1.25.740 at the Buddh International Circuit here.
“I think we can be satisfied with the job we’ve done. My lap in Q2 was very good, although I made a small mistake in the second to last corner, so I was maybe a couple of tenths away from the perfect lap,” said di Resta.
The Scot feels the car is getting better to drive.
“It definitely feels like we’ve made some progress recently and my confidence is growing with the way the car is working at the moment. Going into our home race we are only a couple of places away from points, so we’re in the mix and if we can deliver the right strategy we should be able to come away with something.”
Force India, sixth in the standings with 62 points, have had a poor run in the second half of the season scoring just three points in the last six rounds. They need to do better than Sauber, who are catching up fast, in the remaining four races.
Seventh placed Sauber have 45 points out of which 38 have come in the last four races.
“I think we’re still in with a good chance of scoring points. The strategy options are quite limited because the medium tyre is a very good race compound, more so than the soft. It’s our home race and I really enjoy this track so I hope we can put on a good show in front of the Indian fans Sunday,” said Sutil.
